Rhayader
The popular friendly market town of Rhayader (pronounced ray-ad-er) in the beautiful Upper Wye Valley is the oldest town in Mid-Wales and is the first town on the River Wye. It lies in the very heart of rural Wales, midway between Hereford and Aberystwyth, and halfway between Snowdonia and the Brecon Beacons.
The town also boasts the spectacular scenery afforded by the renowned Elan Valley with its beautiful lakes and reservoirs, dams and over 70 square miles of breath-taking scenery, open mountain land which is rich in wildlife and is ideal for all types of outdoor pursuits.
Transport to and from Rhayader
Less than two hours from Cardiff, Manchester and Birmingham and only four from London, Rhayader is an accessible and welcoming town. There is an extensive bus service that connect the town to most nearby towns, including Builth Wells and Llandrindod Wells. You are also able to connect to Hereford, Shrewsbury, Cardiff and other major towns and cities.
